Ice Cream Conspiracy

The sun, bathed the park in a golden glow, yet a gentle breeze, scented with blossoming cherry and lilac, danced through the newly awakened trees. It was Springfresh day, Xavier and I, liberated from our usual hunter duties, sought the tranquil embrace of the Linkon park.

Wearing a casual outfit, we walk together while holding our hand, and carrying a basket of our picnic supplies. Our walk unison, steady and full of joy while gazing at the people on the park. Although we are silent, our mind and heart are loud of joy, the day that we have look forward since the beginning of the week. Xavier break our silence.

"Our usual spot is taken, do you want to move to near the lake?" Xavier asked, his gaze sweeping over the crowded meadow near the calm shiny ponds that reflects the sunlight.

"Sometimes I don't like the mosquitoes there, but I guess today is an exception," I conceded, the allure of the shimmering lake outweighing my aversion to the tiny, buzzing tormentors.

"A fierce hunter who faces huge wanderers everyday is afraid of mosquitoes, what a cute partner I have," Xavier teased, his eyes twinkling with a little chuckles.

"Hey, I'm not afraid, I just don't like the itch!" I retorted, a playful pout tugging at my lips.

We strolled along the winding path, passing families picnicking on vibrant blankets, couples entwined in affectionate whispers, and children chasing butterflies that fluttered like living jewels. The air hummed with the joyful cadence of spring, the scent of freshly turned earth and blooming flora a symphony for the senses.

Xavier spreads the checkered cloth on a firm grass and placed our wicker basket, laden with plump cherries and a portable barbeque stove, in its center.

"Ah it's good we can spend the time here today." I take out the prepared beef slices and chopstick, while Xavier prepare the portable stove.

"Yeah and I'm hungry, do we also bring the rice?"

"Off course, here you go." I put out or perfectly portion pack of rice, one for him and one for me.

Hissing sounds came from the grilling pan of our portable stove, me and Xavier flipped the beef slices with the chopstick. The breezes swept the smoke of the burning bbq between us, and i can see his face clearly again.

We enjoy of food in our perfect date in the perfect weather, hot barbeque and we end it with cold honey milk tea, brewed by Xavier. We talk about the movie we watch yesterday, and I talk about Tara who has a new boyfriend (again), and Xavier tells me about Nero who sseems to stare at Xavier a lot more in the office. "Maybe he's suspicious at me" Xavier chuckles why he prepare his next scoop of rice and meat.

"Pffft, I bet he's freaking out when he knows you're Lumiere."

"That won't happen."

We enjoy our simple barbeque and rice, and some vegetables. I sometimes tease him with a hot bbq i put on his mouth. "Ah, hot." he says, but he seems to enjoy it and we giggle through it.

After we finished our lunch, we cleanup our eating utensils, and the stoves. Xavier  leans his body to the tree behind us. "Come here." Xavier ask me to join him to lean the tree, watching the beautiful lake, but instead of the tree, I lean on Xavier's shoulder.

A mosquito lands on my backkk of palm. Xavier notice it first and smash it really quickly, but gentle to my skin. He swept away the dead mosquito, his skin soft to the touch of my hand.

"Looks like the mosquitos wants to taste our barbecue, too bad its too late, you eat them all, so they come to you."

"You eat more than me, Xavier, I wonder why they don't come to you. Maybe you don't taste like Earth human." I teased him while poking his face.

A playful jingle break the silence and we can hear some child scream "Ice cream!" A nearby ice cream stall is suddenly crowded after it plays the jingle, its pastel awning casting a cool shadow.

"Do you want some ice cream?" Xavier asked.

"Sure, I lift my head to see his face. Wait. I'm a little bit full, can we just have one and eat it together?"," I replied, he must seen my eyes sparkles in anticipation.

Xavier chuckled, "Alright, wait here, and do not conspire with the mosquitoes."

"You're just jealous that the mosquitoes like me," I quipped, watching him stride towards the stall.

While Xavier was gone, I watched a scene unfold by the lake. The sunlight shimmering the water surface, creating sparkles that pleases the eyes. The spring comes with colorful flowers that grows in the bushes near the lake. I took a deep breath, in my heart I pray for moments like this every spring. With Xavier, only Xavier.

A small boy, his face alight with innocent joy, scattered breadcrumbs for a flock of baby ducks. But then, a mother goose approached with eyesnarrowed in protective vigilance, sending the child scurrying towards their parent with a shriek of "Mommyyy!" I couldn't help but laugh, the scene a perfect encapsulation of the day's carefree spirit.

Xavier returned, a towering cone of ice cream in hand.

"What are you laughing at?" he asked with a soft curiosity.

"Just a cute child," I replied, taking the cone. "Ooh, thanks Xavier. It is one ice cream but it's so huge. How can we finish it after we eat a full barbeque?"

"I guess I'll be the dumpster if you can't finish it," Xavier teased.

"Haha, you're my favorite dumpster though. May I?" I asked but take the lead in licking on the first tip of ice cream.

"Quick, it'll melt! The day is too sunny; it'll become a puddle if we can't finish soon," Xavier warned and he take his turn in tasting the ice cream.

We enjoy our ice cream in companionable silence, the cool sweetness a delightful contrast to the warm sun. I hold the ice cream and we take turns in eating its sides. I sat facing Xavier, when a mosquito landed on my thigh. I flinch and slapped it away. I didn't realize that my flinch makes my hands with the ice cream moves too quickly when Xavier wants to take his turn.

"Ouch!" I exclaimed, my ice cream cone wobbling, sending a dollop of chocolate and mint onto Xavier's cheek. "Oops, I'm sorry!" But then I burst into laughter, "Ppffftt, your face. Please don't blame me, blame the mosquito!" Here hold the ice cream, I'll find something to clean you.

I rummaged through the basket, searching for a piece of tissue, but we were out. I gaze at Xavier's face while thinking of a solution, but he's so cute with the face covered with ice cream like that. With a mischievous glint in my eyes, I cup his face and wiped my thumb across Xavier's cheek and then placed it in my mouth. "Mmm, you taste good, Xavier," I teased.

Xavier eyes dazzled and he lets out a soft sigh.

"If you could hear a mosquito speaking, I bet you'd sound just like them, biting and then saying, 'this person tastes good,'" Xavier retorted, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

"Oh really? Then if I were a mosquito, I would bite you and taste you for myself, omnomonom!" I mimicked, playfully nipping at his cheek. But my nose, instead, collided with the melted ice cream on his face.

"Ah! So this is the karma I got for biting you, huh?" I chuckled and Xavier is too.

"Unlike you, my hands are full, so I don't know how to help you clean it. Unless..." Xavier nuzzled his lips against my nose, wiping away the ice cream. Suddenly, my heart pounded against my ribs, the sound a frantic drumbeat in the quiet air.

"You're so mischiv-..." I began, but Xavier cut me off, gently pressing his lips to my ice cream-covered nose. I dazed, unsure how to react at his sudden move.

His breath was warm against my skin, his gaze locked on my lips. "You have something too on your face," he whispered. And then, our lips met.

The kiss was a delightful paradox, cool and sweet like the ice cream, yet warm and tender, sending a shiver of pleasure through my body. The gentle sweetness deepened, Xavier's lips moving with a slow but increasing passion, his taste a blend of chocolate, mint, and something uniquely his. The world around us faded, the sounds of the park dissolving into a soft, hazy background.

My hand grabs his wrist that holds the ice cream, tighter each time our lips gets tighter as well.

A sensation of a cold melting ice cream dripping down my hands brought me back to reality. I pulled away, my breath catching in my throat, releasing a breathy whispery low shout. "Oh no!"

Xavier, his eyes half-closed and a dazed expression on his face, murmured a soft "huh?" then noticed the sticky mess on my arm. I licked the melting ice cream, savoring the cool sweetness. Noticing his gaze is still on me, I try to distract him.

"Xavier, it's melting in our hand too," I warned. But Xavier didn't seem to care, his gaze still locked in my face.

"Ugh, Xavier!" I grab his arm and licked the melting ice cream, a playful smile tugging at my lips.

"You--." Xavier pull his hand, but I lock his hand to my grab until I finish cleaning him. But everytime I try to clean, it's my face that gets messy.

"Your face is messy again." Xavier rush to meet my lips again.

"Mh-" once again we melt into each other's face.

The afternoon seems like an eternity, yet we don't want the day to end yet while we have each other. If i could freeze the day, i would, but right now I let my heart melt along with his.

"Look mom, that's the ducky who wanted to bite me!" A chuckle of a child running to the lake break our unfocused mind, their footsteps seems too near from where we are. Our face parted away, dazed and flushed, now gazing to each other's lips. Now it's just a cone in our hands, we managed to clean them up, even if our lips are numb but also full of sensations.

The mother of the child took a glance on Xavier and I, and proceed to say "Uhh, why don't we go to that side to see the nicer goose, sweetie?"

Our face are red, while out white outfit are in a mess with the chocolate and strawberry smudges of ice cream. Silence between me and Xavier, while we are munching our last bites of ice cream cone. Xavier clap his hand to clean the crumbs of the cone, and looks at me.

A mosquito lands once again, this time on xavier's cheek, i giggled a little bit.

"Look, now its mocking you.”

“ I think the mosquitoes have been conspiring against us." Xavier continues.

"I agree, and they win. Let's go home.”  I said, gesturing to our stained shirts. "Look, our shirts are so messy," I point at his shirt.

Xavier nod in a playful agreement, but his eyes twinkling with mischief. A smirk spreading across his face and continue with a whisper.

"I'm afraid it's going to be messier when we get home."
